Aged care providers say they’re still waiting for vulnerable residents and staff to receive vaccinations as criticism of Australia’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout grows.
Secretary of the Federal Health Department, Dr Brendan Murphy, says more than half of aged care residents are vaccinated and the rollout to workers is also expanding.

Statement from the Department of Health:
Phase 1a of Australia’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program began on Monday, 22 February 2021, with those most vulnerable the first to be vaccinated under the national roll out, including aged care residents and workers.
To date, more than 111,873 vaccinations have been administered to aged care residents across Australia. This includes 925 facilities who have received first doses and 345 that have received second doses.
