Hugh Sheridan stunned fans by proposing to his partner Kurt Roberts during his performance at the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
The Packed to the Rafters Star popped the question in front of the audience on Friday night, just months after officially coming out as gay.
“I just got engaged,” he yelled as he ran back to the stage.
The pair, who only recently went public, were seen hugging and kissing following the performance, The Advertiser reported.
Friend Sarah Abbott shared a sweet tribute to the pair on Instagram following the big news.
“It’s not every day one of your besties proposes to the love of his life @hugh_sheridan @kurtroberts_ so excited for you both,” she wrote.
Sheridan is understood to have started dating Kurt Ackermann, who is known to his thousands of fans on TikTok as Kurt Roberts, last December.
Sheridan told Larry and Kylie that he hadn’t planned on going public with the relationship until a photographer snapped shots of them having an “intimate moment on a packed beach”
Sheridan told Larry and Kylie that he hadn’t planned on going public with the relationship until a photographer snapped shots of them having an “intimate moment on a packed beach”.
“I probably wouldn’t have said anything, but someone papped us,” he explained.
“So who cares, yeah I’m dating someone and it’s great.”
Sheridan described Roberts as “lovely and very nice.”
In October last year, Sheridan revealed in Stellar magazine that he had been in relationships with both women and men but preferred not to label his sexuality.
Instead of ‘gay’ or ‘bi,’ he said he’d rather be known as “human.”
That has now inspired the name behind his brand new show, called ‘HUGHMAN,’ which debuts at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in March.
A bio for the show says it will see Sheridan and “a team of Australia’s most sought-after dancers raise the roof in a brand new sensory spectacular.”
“See Hugh in a new light as he spins beats from MJ to Calvin Harris, Guetta to Sinatra in an extraordinary mash up of Music, Tap, Hip Hop Dance, Light Shows, Live Music and more.”‘HUGHMAN’ is a show specifically designed to lift the collective vibration of everyone in the audience through, music, dance and visual ecstasy.
“After last year and so much happening, I just wanted to do something that would make everyone feel amazing,” Hugh said.
“I’ve never had so much fun doing a show in my life, it’s brilliant.”
