A McDonald’s worker in the UK has revealed a secret about the fast-food giant’s drive-through that will utterly unnerve most people.
It’s nothing to do with the food, though – it’s a little-known fact about the way drive-through works.

TikTok user @secretfitzz has revealed that Macca’s drive-through workers can hear every word of what you’re saying in your car as you wait for your order.
“The fact people don’t know we can hear your convos even when we aren’t speaking to you taking your order,” the TikTok video is captioned.
“And we have a camera at the speaker that takes a picture of you so we know whose order is whose.
“Seeing the mugshots of random people makes my day.”
In Australia, images are taken of cars as they pull up to the speaker box to make their order but are not stored and do not capture the driver’s face clearly, a spokesperson said.
The UK Macca’s employee’s video has been watched more than 99,000 times and has more than 3300 comments.
Some joked that there was no way staff could hear the in-car conversations when they seemed to have difficulty hearing the order.
“How can you hear my convo when you can’t hear me screaming into the mic from 5cm away,” one person wrote.
“Erm, we’re never going through the drive-thru again,” another responded.
One Macca’s customer said they knew this already and had intentionally “messed up” conversations to freak the staff out.
One follower, presumably also a McDonald’s worker, wrote: “The stuff I’ve heard, bro.”
Another wanted to make sure the camera got their good side.
“Pls at what time do you take the pic, I need time to pose,” they wrote.
But most were genuinely surprised.
“New fear unlocked,” one wrote, while another simply said, “SCARED.”
