A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly slashing and injuring a police officer responding to a domestic violence call in Sydney’s northern suburbs.
NSW Police say the 38-year-old man was armed with two knives when he slashed the 26-year-old officer on the back of his head about 11.20am on Tuesday at a unit on Punt Road in Gladesville.
The officer’s shoulder was also dislocated and he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital, but has since been released.
Police diverted traffic and brought in negotiators before the man was led out of the building and taken into custody a short time later.
He has been charged with attempted murder and common assault, as well as for breaching an apprehended domestic violence order.
The man has been refused bail to face court at Hornsby on Wednesday.
