These days, gender reveals are usually grand affairs featuring coloured balloons or confetti poppers.
But one Sydney couple has simplified the ceremony by simply eating their way through a snack pack.
As seen in the video above, Parramatta restaurant Istanbul in Parra said it had been asked to conceal the couple’s unborn child’s gender in the dish.
The restaurant posted the process of making the ‘gender reveal snack pack’ to TikTok.
“Today we’ve got something special that we’re doing,” a worker says.
“We’ve got a gender reveal, these guys wanted it in a snack pack.”
After the snack pack is assembled and presented to the couple, a timelapse shows them devouring the chips and meat before the moment of truth.
On the count of three, the couple then flips their plate to reveal their unborn baby is a girl.
“It’s a girl” was written in black marker underneath the meal.
The video of the unique snack pack has since gone viral, amassing more than 500,000 views and more than a thousand comments.
“What in the western Sydney did I just watch,” one person wrote.
“This is my ideal gender reveal, it’s such a sweet and simple way to do it, love it,” another said.
“Congrats fam, you’re having a food baby,” a third person wrote.
“At least it’s not like the gender reveals that literally destroy the environment,” another wrote.
