Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, the duke and duchess of Sussex, have marked the passing of Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip, with a message on their website.
“In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, 1921-2021. Thank you for your service… You will be greatly missed,” the pair wrote on their Archewell site.
Following a rift with the royal family, Harry and Meghan stepped back from their official royal duties and now live in the United States.
The PA news agency said Harry is likely to travel from the US to attend his grandfather’s funeral.
His attendance will be pivotal moment for the Royal Family following on from their controversial Oprah Interview earlier this year.
It is unclear if Meghan will attend as she is heavily-pregnant.
She is due to give birth to a daughter in the US summer.
The couple’s new addition will be the first royal to be born in the US – and Prince Harry has been quick to share his happiness.
Speaking to US chat show host Oprah Winfrey as part of their bombshell interview that sent shockwaves around the world, Harry said “what more can you ask for?”
“Now we’ve got our family. We’ve got, you know, the four of us and our two dogs, and it’s great,” he said.
But whether the rift caused by the couple’s move to the US has been healed within the royal family remains to be seen.
