A Sydney couple unable to visit the pub during the city’s lockdown has constructed one at home.

Kaylyn Rule told Sunrise she mentioned to her husband Daniel that she missed going to their local watering hole, so he built one in their garage.

“I honestly didn’t think it would happen as fast as it did,” she told the Channel Seven breakfast show.

“It was all done within a couple of hours.”

The impressive set-up features a bench, flashing lights and stools, with the materials all acquired from Facebook Marketplace and Bunnings Warehouse at a cost of $300.

Kaylyn documented the construction process on TikTok, and her video has been viewed over half a million times.

In the video, Daniel creates the bar by nailing together wooden pallets before sanding down the surface and applying varnish.

He also mounts two shelves to the back bar to store bottles of alcohol and a television up top for watching sport.

Kalyn said the reaction to the video has been “crazy”.

“I just wanted to make the video so I could show our friends and family – we honestly didn’t think it would blow up like this.”
