Holidaymakers have been forced to flee the Sydney Opera House over fears of a gas leak.
Fire crews were called to the tourist hotspot at 3pm on Sunday after reports of a strong smell of gas coming from the building.
A spokesman for Fire and rescue NSW told 7NEWS crews have evacuated The Sydney Opera House.
“We’re working with hazardous crews to establish where the leak is coming from. A gas technician is on the way to assist.”
He said the leak is believed to be coming from a small part of the building.
At least two crews were at the scene.
Dozens of passerby enjoying the sunshine were stunned by the chaotic scene.
No shows were on to be interrupted.
Investigations are ongoing.
